About the University Chaplain

Ted Dziak SJ

Father Ted Dziak, S.J. serves as the University Chaplain of Loyola University New Orleans.  This new office opened in summer 2015 and seeks to foster Ignatian spirituality and contribute to the spiritual life of the university community, its alumni, and the larger New Orleans Catholic community.  The University Chaplain also fosters direct links to the Loyola Jesuit community and the Jesuit network of educational institutions across the world. 

The mission of the Office of University Chaplain includes:

  • To increase opportunities for the greater Loyola community to experience the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and foster and support other programs in Ignatian spirituality.
  • To expand efforts to link Loyola New Orleans with the local, national, and international Jesuit network of apostolates and educational institutions and lead the recruitment of Jesuit faculty and staff to the university.
  • To assist with vocational discernment on campus by promoting vocations and providing students and members of the Loyola community with the tools necessary to consider and navigate a path to serving the Church as priests, sisters, brothers and lay pastoral ministers.
  • To serve as the alumni chaplain and assisting with spiritual resources for all alumni and their families.
  • To serve as the chaplain to the Board of Trustees.
